Here is the evaluation of our project for year 2008/2009.
I will report what everybody said in Poland on this second year of our Rainbow Project. We mainly talked about what went well and what couldn't be achieved that year and so I'll start with the positive points and then the negative points presented by each country! Feel free to add the details I didn't have time to write down, or things you are still doing now til the end of June! Happy reading!

FRANCE: coordinator Carine Henrion

The green quiz went really well since a lot of colleagues took their class to do it this year! The students had fun shooting the film on environment. The Middle School pupils did an excellent job preparing and illustrating the 20 English questions and answers for the "Green Game". The Mail Art project organised by Mister Cesaroni went really well also and all the products will be sent this coming week! The training on e-journal attracted about 15 teachers and 8 classes
so 20 hours of training will be devoted on the use of e-journal in order to increase the number of users in our school. The "pollution" concert took place Wednesday in l'Arsenal (remember the concert hall we took you for the contemporary dance!) and the hall was full of excited parents! The students made really nice Green Posters. The students also made a Christmas song (music and lyrics) that they published on e-journal for the end of year celebrations!
The students of Thierry were unable to cut the video sessions and to make a film out of their shootings so the film unfortunately remains unviewable. We were sad to hear that nobody else finally did the Mail Art , but hopefully Spain and Holland can do it before the end of this year, and we are waiting for the Italian posters! The "Planète Daubié" concert will not take place as an end of year concert in our school since the organisator, Martine Bauer didn't get the support she needed
to complete her project. The improvement of our park for bycicles has not being done, but Mister Drapier hasn't abandoned this idea yet! The bio system with fish and plants was unfortunately not done by our Biology team. And the visit to the recycling plant has not been organised either! We also couldn't have a proper video-conference since we encountered some computer problems. The Comenius team feels they are lacking the back-up and the support they used to have with Jean-Claude.

SPAIN: coordinator Monica Fernandez

3 teachers involved with 19 students. The students will make an interview about the project. They will make a review on the film entitled "Earth". They made a nice Power-Point
presentation on all their work and they mainly finished it at home since they were highly motivated kids. They are planning to work on Mail Art til the end of this year.
The video-conference did not work due to technical problems. Problems of Calendar due to a late start and tight schedule around the Easter Holidays. They lacked
some info since the coordinator was on maternity leave. They found it hard to pick four students for the conference since they were all really motivated.
ITALY (Iseo): coordinator Marina Berlinghieri
12 teachers worked on the project with 4 different groups of about 100 pupils. They worked on reclycling (with a visit of a recycling plant), saving energy (if I use less light how much energy can be saved), the guardians of the light (lights turned off by
teachers and designated pupils) and a passive house (how to save a maximum of energy in a house). They switched off all the electrical appliances the 12 th of February. They really worked hard to present everything on nice power point presentations.
They did not succed in having a video-conference. They underlined the fact that nobody published the outlines we should have to prepare the kids for the
conference. They also stressed the fact that all the staff involved should be on the email list so that everybody gets the information on time.
ITALY (Pisogne): coordinator Laura Quetti
A very positive thing is that now Laura is able to write an article! Around 10 teachers involved this year and 187 Middle Schoolers. It really helped to take different teachers for the meetings so they felt more involved and they could talk about it to others. They had the financial help of the local municipality to redo the main square. They did a second hand market to exchange old things but also to buy them and they made a 2000 euro profit involving teachers, pupils but also a lot of parents, it was a real success. With this money they made 750 shopping bags in material which is more eco friendly than plastic bags, they gave some money
to help the people who suffered the earthquake and they will also use some for the end of year school trip. They put containers around the school to recycle paper, plastic and glass. They exchanged with Poland some recycled Christmas decorations. They did 10 leaflets to remind people about gestures to save energy and how to be eco friendly. They discovered that green ink pens are less polluting than red ink pens. They hung posters around the school to warn people about their behaviour (Do you really need to print this? Did you think about switching off the lights?...) and they will send some to us in exchange of our Mail Art.
They felt they had too many things to do. It was thus hard to meet the deadlines. They had some problems with communication with the whole
group and thus suggest that all the deadlines and information should be published on e-journal rather than being communicated by e-mails.
FINLAND: coordinator Marjo Kekki
5 teachers involved and 105 High Graders. The pupils worked in pairs and they did survey research about various topics like recycling waste, electricity and water. They held a seminar to present their results. It was a three week project on which they worked
for 7 hours a weeK, they had 21 lessons for this project. All the results were directly published on the net so there were no paper waste. They also managed to base their exchange with Poland on environmental issues and visited a paper factory.
They did not do any analysis of the Green survey results. They didn't have the rights to publish anything on e-journal until recently. They also think
communication could be improved since all their names were not part of the Comenius mail list. They did not manage to do any video-conference either.
HOLLAND: coordinator Martine Van Der Heide
4 teachers involved and 30 students worked on the project this year. 7 groups were made to speak about various topics: water pollution, drinking water, fight against waste, ecosystem, etc.. All subjects were dealt with in 9 hours for about one week and a
half. The pupils made a power point presentation to present all their results. They also made two big posters. They will also do a small report for the e-journal. They will think about Mail Art and see if it's possible to achieve in the remaining time!
Ton left and so it delayed the start of the project this year. Martine had a lot of things to do and so Nico didn't have much time to complete everything. There
are too many "2009" folders and so it's hard to know in which one things should be posted. All the folders should have names so it would be easier to publish.

POLAND: coordinator Clair Pater
6 teachers involved with 50 students from 10 to 13 years old. They took one day to collect and weigh paper. They cleaned an area in the forest. The Biology teacher organized walks along with the ministry of the forest department in order for the kids to recognize prints and to know how to protect the habitat. They built a sanctuary park for the birds
to be fed in winter time. They painted recycled bottles. They did many posters on green issues. During the exchange with Pisogne they made little "lampions". They made a questionnaire on how to save our environment on the computer. They had a one to one video conference with Italy using Skype. They will put reports of their work on e-journal.
They didn't manage to do a video-conference with a class using e-journal. They lacked time to encourage
the pupils to write and publish their work. They did not register for "The Spring of Europe"
