Week of the environment in Rombas

A group of students from our Middle School and High School are actually working on the preparation of a full week devoted to the environnement !
This project represents a lot of work and that’s why every Monday since October we have started an environment club in which several pupils are working together with Mr Drapier, a PE teacher, M Arthaud and Miss Henrion.

At first we discussed all the various topics attached to our theme in order to get the pupils aware of the various ecological problems. Then we gathered ideas in order to fill our week with different actions. Then we ordered everything we needed and now we are working on putting everything together !
We have already collected lots of songs which are all talking about environmental problems, videos, clips and ads, but also posters and pictures to decorate the walls of our school during this week.
The pupils have written in big letters on green papers « The week of the environment » that will be posted in three different places around the school for everybody to know what is going on !
They have also been working in the computer room to print thousands of messages all containing advice, reflection, thoughts and criticism on this subject ! Everything we create is on green paper or cardboard so that people will know it’s associated with that week.
We also will have a bio meal at the canteen, and conferences with prestigious speakers !
We will have a music room to broadcast the songs we collected, a video room to project all the videos !
Mr Drapier is organizing a bike ride and everyday people will have to take part in various little actions in order to prove how important our planet is and how little actions can make a difference !

Here is the program of the environment week :

Monday May, 5 : 10 a.m. : during school break all the pupils will shout in order to express their disgust ! During the whole week we have booked the video room in order to project all the materials we have collected Fair Trade exhibition in the school library during the whole week Tuesday, May, 6 : Day in school without mobile phones 10 a.m. : shouting session again Lunch : bio meal Afternoon : conference on healthy food Broadcasting of green music Wednesday, May 7 : 10 a.m. : shout 1.30 p.m. : walk in the nature Thursday, May 8 : Bank Holiday Friday, May 9 : Everybody is supposed to be wearing green clothes on that day 10 a.m. shout 11.15 a.m. : die in + photos of the students gathered in the school yard holding green posters taken from the sky so as to have a green playground instead of a grey and unfriendly one.
