LIP 6 Live Online comes true
The course LIP 6 Live Online will take place in the school year 2007 - 08. The Finnish Educational Board provided a grant for it, and OPEKO, the National Centre for Professional Development in Education, is going to arrange the sixth course of Learn Internet Projects by Doing, together with the networks COMP@CT and ESP Finland. Mr Ilpo Halonen will coach LIP 6 Live Online. He coaches LIP courses since 2002. LIP 6 Live Online bases on the same format as the former LIP courses. Finnish participants start making international partner projects with their students, in cooperation with foreign colleagues. Projects start in autumn 2007, and every project lasts from the first LIP seminar to the third one, i.e. about half a year minimum. Partner projects can be carried out by the summer 2008, or even longer if there is mutual interest of teachers.

LIP 6 Live Online
A new focus of LIP 6 Live Online is, as the title says, web conferencing. There is a live online room integrated into eJournals. This means that the web tool can be used both for written and spoken communication of participants. LIP 6 Live Online will instruct teachers how to make global partner projects, not only in the geographical but also in the communicative meaning of the word. Since May 2006 Mr Ilpo Halonen is implementing the Tuesday Round of teachers of German, and he has got a lot of experience about moderating live online sessions in English and in German. He will teach moderating skills to the participants of the coming course LIP 6 Live Online, among other things. Now that web conferencing is the service that grows the fastest in the Internet, teachers can’t possibly think that spoken intercourse could be put aside in today’s web services in education.

Take the conference room into good use
Don’t forget to take the new live online room of eJournals into good use. Start giving lessons – for both written and spoken education - over the Internet. NB! If you have no access to eJournals, or you want to moderate sessions, please send me a mail to ilpohalonen@dlc.fi to get instructions.
