The school has a long history and was founded in the beginning oft the twentieth century by Feike Kalsbeek, who will always be remembered as the name giver oft he school.
It grew from a school at which some 70 pupils did advanced education into a modern comprehensive school where pupils can take exams in all the usual subjects and also in visional arts and sports.

This ist the location Schilderspark. In these building houses a havo department (higher general secondary education) and a vwo department (start for university education). About 1700 pupils are taught here by more than 150 teachers.

This ist the location Bredius. Here there are another 1200 pupils take lessons at vmbo-level (preparatory intermediate vocational education)

Our educational program is such that it challenges our students to good results in a safe learning and living environment. It also encourages pupils to cooperate and it pays a lot of attention to individual children so that they van discover and develop their own qualities.

Schooltopics
Each school year has a couple of key events: the annual musical, a fashion show at which the department of visional arts shows ist products; gala evening for the examinees., project on energy in the second form, speed-skating tournaments against other schools and volleyball tournaments.

One of our international activities is a study-tour to the former concentration camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau.  At the picture you see our group in Poland.

But of course we have more international events. For about ten years we already started in the Comenius projects with visiting a school near Hannover in Germany with our pupils. At that time we also had e-mail contact with an english school.
Nowadays we have an email project in German with a school in Poland, another email project in the first form, five-day schooltrips to Prague, London, Berlin, Rome and Paris in the fourth and fifth form and language trips to Oxford, Berlin or Paris in the fourth form.

Our students are between twelve and eighteen years old and they come from the city of Woerden, but also from neighbouring villages. They cycle to school in all weather and some of them have to ride about 25 kilometers a day!

Woerden is a provincial town situated in the rural heart ( „The green Heart“) of our country. The city has about 50.000 inhabitants and consists of some housing and industrial districts surrounded by fields and meadows.

Woerden has an old and nice city. Its history goes back to the Roman Period.  Woerden is well-known of its cheese and cheese spread. (called „Goudkuipje“)
