In Poland the most popular comedy is "Sami swoi". This film was directed by Sylwester Chęciński. For the first time the Polish audience saw the film in 1967.

The story happens in Lubomierz which is a traditional Polish village. The main characters are two families the Pawlaks and the Karguls. After II World War these families move to Poland and settle in neighbourly houses. The film depicts absurd, very funny quarrels. Before the war Kargul's cow entered Pawlak's meadow. As a consequence two barns are burnt and John Pawlak has to run away to the United States. In spite of that they are no longer on good terms. However, despite their parent's dispute, the children - representatives of the new generation - fall in love with each other and get married. After many years John comes back to Poland and he is suprised to find both the families in agreement.

The cast is excellent, the actors are really good and their acting is totally professional and extremely amusing. This plot shows the Polish reality after II World War presented in a comic way. If you have not seen "Sami swoi" you should watch it. That film is cult so don't miss it. It's the best comedy I've ever seen, but what is the most unbelivable... I've watched "Sami swoi" several times and I know all thesituations but every time I am watching it, I can't stop laughing.
