The puppet of the news


· We are going to set out one of the most famous French TV broadcasts called “Les Guignols de l’info” that’s to say “the Puppet of the news”. This TV show was created in 1988 and has been, since then, a well-known latex puppet show dealing with everyday news. The guignols have a tremendous impact on French popular culture. The teenagers, often uninterested in politics follow political news mainly through this show. This TV programme has an equivalent in the US :”Splitting Image”.

· This programme takes place everyday just before the evening television news. Puppet made of latex tackle the news brilliantly and humorously. Indeed, the show is hosted by the coward anchorman whose nickname is “P.P.D.A” and caricatures our “GRAVE NEW WORLD” : nothing nor nobody is spared. Thanks to the talented impersonators, viewers can watch BIN laden talking with Jacques Chirac, and a great deal of other unlikely meetings. The US president is depicted as a sucker only able to follow the orders of Mr Sylvester, the caricature of the insensible American GI while the French President , the most famous puppet is represented as an incompetent, lazy, heavy drinker liar.


· This show –notwithstanding the 3 “S” : Shortness, Subjectivity and Superficiality allow the viewers to spend a few nice and funny minutes thanks to this lampoon, by puppets of our biased, capitalist, inhuman society.
