The Club Sportif of Bourgoin Jalieu

In Bourgoin Jallieu Rugby began in 1898 on a meadow in the proximity of Bourgoin Jallieu and the rugby club was called “CLUB SPORTIF BERGUSIEN” in 1906. The three founders were George OCHS, Robert FAURE and Pierre RAJON. Property was bought by 40 people altogether in 1923.
In 1933, the 40 people gave the stadium to Bourgoin and Jallieu in 1933. But they wanted free entrance for their whole life. Today, there are 3500 players and 80 coaches in the club. They go into”Excellenze A” and They were in the ¼ finals in the French championship in 1941 J.PALAT joined in 1945 and this was good for the club.
They were in the final of the French championship, before the”FFR” reaction for the 2° league 1949 where the team already was in it. They won the " Bouclier de Bourgogne " price in 1985. They were to attempts record holders in the French championship: they achieved to 66 attempts.

They eached the final of the " Challenge du Manoir " and the French championship in 1997.
They are in ¼ final of the " Challenge du Manoir " in 1987 against Dax.
They achieved the highest number of attempts in the Challenge. They are in ¼ final of the French championship in 1994. They lose in ½ final in 1995 against Toulouse, and in ¼ final in 1996 against Pau.
Recently, they went to the”Conférence Européenne” in the final. They won ” Le Challenge du Manoir” in 1997; They played in the championship for the last final at the Parisian parc the Princes; they were in the final of “Le Bouclier Européen” and in the French Cup in 1999; they were in the 1/8 final of the French championship and in the Heinken Cup. The Rugby sport becomes ever more popular in Bourgoin Jallieu. „Vive les „ciel et grenat“!!!“(long live to the sky-blue and the maroon !)
