Dear Ann,
Thanks for your letter. I'm really pleased to hear that you're coming to my home town while you're in Poland next week. Of course I'm happy to help you with all the things you've asked about.
Firstly, let me suggest where you might like to stay in Rybnik. I think as you're coming with your parents the best place is probably The Rynek Hotel in the town centre as it's close to all the interesting spots. However, if your parents prefer to stay in a quieter place, The Olimpia Hotel in Kamien might be a good idea as it's located in the recreational area of Rybnik, with a gorgeous little lake and a microclimate. So, if you wish you can call me and I'll book the rooms for you.
You've also wanted to know what you can see and do here. It's a lucky coincidence that you're coming to Rybnik at the end of October when the annual Literature Days are organized. We're going to have a lot of meetings with famous people - writers, poets and some other artists. I'll check the programme and choose the most interesting and remarkable options. Of course, I'm also going to take you and your parents on a guided tour of Rybnik. I'll show you the museum, some wooden churches dating back to the XVI century and the monumental coal-mine Ignacy. On Sunday dad is taking us to Rudy. I'll show you the ruins of the Cysters' Abbey.
Don't bother about restaurants; mum invites your whole family for dinners to our house. She says you have to try our traditional Polish home-made meals. She's also promised to bake "makowiec". I've already told you about this Silesian cake, do you remember? The one made either of cheese or poppy seeds - delicious!
I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay in Rybnik and we'll have a great time together. I can't wait!
See you soon.
Best wishes,
     Mike.
