Thursday, October 11th
We woke up very early in the morning, because we left for Mumbai at six o?clock. The trip took five hours. One of Mr Peter?s former students was kind enough to accompany us and he invited us to his home for some tea in Mumbai. Then we went to do some shopping. After that we checked in at the YMCA hotel and left to visit St Xavier?s Institute of Education, which trains new teachers. We were met by Father Joe, the principal Dr Adelaide Vax and the staff, who were so kind as to meet us after their working day. The professors were very interested in the Finnish education system and the eJournal project. We were also taken around the institute and shown some of the classrooms, the library and the staff room. It was very nice to meet them and to see the institute!
After the visit we saw a couple of sights and did some more shopping. We wanted to go to bed early, because we had to leave early for the airport, at four o?clock. In a city the size of Mumbai you have to take the distances and the traffic into account, getting from one place to another takes a long time.
The next morning it was time to say goodbye. Mr Peter and his student took us to the airport. We had an unforgettable trip behind us, we had been looked after with so much care and met so wonderful people that we felt we couldn?t express our feelings and gratitude in words. Now we are looking forward to meeting at least some of them in Finland in April!
