A Journey of a thousand miles
|
After a long struggle for the attainments of our passports and visas, my dream came true and finally we were in the Netherlands. Our journey began on the 18th of May, 2009. It was a long journey of about fifteen hours. We were welcomed warmly by our friends and we then proceeded to our host’s houses.
From the next day itself I started visiting the schools. I attended a few Physical Exercise classes, where we played handball. The game was a lot of fun and I enjoyed myself immensely. I also participated in the Javelin Throw and we also played a game of football. Although the food didn’t quite adhere to my taste I managed. We also visited Germany for some sight-seeing and basically enjoyed ourselves. I also visited an amusement park and I shopped a lot.
In school I basically attended Dutch, Physics, and English classes. I also took part in a debate where we compared the Dutch System of Education to the Indian one. I found that :
1. Their classes were much longer than ours almost twice the time scale. 2. They didn’t utilize that many books and instead used more of laptops. 3. They do not have a particular uniform.
I also went skiing at a snow park which was quite a new experience for me but I enjoyed myself.
It was thrilling experience and I would never miss a chance to visit the Netherlands again. It was finally on the 1st of June I arrived In Mumbai again.
I’d just like to say that this was one of the most interesting experiences of my life and I would like to thank all those people responsible for it in one way or the other.
