I tell you how and when we spend Christmas. We start prepare for Christmas on the first sunday of December. It's first advent and the beginning of season called pikkujoulu(littlechristmas). "Littlechristmas" isn't official season, so it isn't in our calender. It's time when people start buying presents and their spirits get higher, probably cause they know that they are going to have holiday, even if it's quite short for most of finnish people. We give presents on 24th of December, generally in evening, after eating well with family. Sometimes if there are some little children in family, the Santa Claus may come visit(Santa is by the way origin from Finland). Singing christmas songs belongs too in Finnish Christmas tradition, as do Christmas church, Christmas tree and Christmas cards. 25th of December is Christmas Day and 26th is Boxing Day. Usually there is snow when it's Christmas and its gets dark very early. My favourite thing in Christmas is the time before we open gifts. The feeling is great when you have gifts around you and you don't have any idea what there is in them.
