Special finnish food

Finnish food has been influenced by swedish and russian food cultures. Here are still native and unigue foods.
This article introduces the most common, best-known and exotic finnish foods served with finnish humour.

KARJALAN PIIRAKAT - KARELIAN PIES - often rice porridge in rye peels. Served with eggbutter.

MAKKARA - SAUSAGE - common finnish food. HK:s Blue is the most common.

VERILETUT - BLOOD PANCACES - often made of cow or pig blood. They are very nutriciuos. They are often served with granberries.

LÖRTSY - A SOLID PIE FILLED WITH MEAT OR JAM - they are often large and very tasty. They come from Savo.

LEIPÄJUUSTO - BREADCHEESE roasted cheese. Tastes very good with cloudberries.

PETTULEIPÄ - PINE BREAD - a part of the flours (rye) is replaced with pine powder. Pine bread was eaten during the poor times in the 17th century. It is very nutricious. Unfortunately it tastes like hard cardboard.

AURAN SINAPPI - AURA MUSTARD - Auran sinappi is the most common and best finnish mustard. It used to be called as 'Turun sinappi' - 'Turku mustard'. The name was sold to the swedes. They thought that they would do big business selling the finnish favourite mustard. But they bought only the name, not recipe. Finns soon realized that Turun sinappi tastes like swedish shit. Nowadays over a half of the mustard sold in finland is Auran sinappia (partitiivi). River Aura flows through Turku.

SALMIAKKI = SALMIAC; SALTY LIQUORICE is a kind of candy. It's very popular in Finland because it tastes so good. It's called salmiakki because salmiac is used in it. Of course, there are those who don't like salmiakki. Some salmiakkis are very strong.

LIHAPEUNASOSELAATIKKO = MASHED MEAT POTATO BOX is very nutricious but not very tasty. Keep an eye for it. It comes when you're the most unprepaired. Get it before it gets you!

RUISLEIPÄ - RYE BREAD is common finnish food. We eat it nearly every day. It's more nutricious than fair bread and important part of finnish nutriment.

PUURO - PORRIDGE is also important part of finnish nutriment. There are many kind of porridges made from different grains. I eat porridge every day. Granberry porridge in picture.

MAITO - MILK is the most common finnish drink after fresh! water. It is nutricious and includes lots of calsium. It's get from cows.

MYKYROKKA - DUMPLING SOUP is traditional food in Savo. It's a soup made of potatos, meat, heart and infernal organs like liver and kidneys. Myvyt (dumplings) are accidents made of flour and blood. It's served as school food in a part of Savo. You shoud keep a nice distance to it. It's even more dangerous than mashed meat potato box.
