In Finland we have lots of passanger cars. About 2,9 million for people of 5,3 million. That's a lot!
Reason for that might be the area of Finland (long distance from town to town) and maybe high price's of our public transportation. Also Finnish narrow-minded attitude for peacfully driving of their own coud have something to do with that.
Few local train route's lead from Helsinki to Espoo, Riihimäki and Lahti. They are the only ones in Finland. Further north goes only pendolinos and inter-city trains.

In this picture you can see the local train routes. The picture is from www.vr.fi (vr=valtion rautatie=country [Finland] railway).
Green goes to Espoo which is suburb for Helsinki. They like to travel with their own cars to Helsinki where they work. It creates traffic jams. Metro is planned to build there
Yellow goes between green and blue to Vantaankoski.
Blue goes to Riihimäki and that way. We live in Kerava which you can see also in red line. Thats because in Kerava this route branch off to Riihimäki and Lahti.
Lots of people live beside blue (and red) line. Some (many) of them go to work by train. Journey from Kerava to Helsinki takes 20-30 minutes, depends on train which you use. Lahti to Helsinki takes more than 40 minutes.
We woud be very eager to hear about your train system or transportation. If you need any more information about ours just ask.
