Every year thousands of tourist flock out here just to get a taste of its beauty, peace and serenity. It is also a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of their routine life and the over crowded cities. Out here one can come into touch with ones inner self and aesthetic values. besides this Mahabaleshwar has places of historic values which date back to ancestors who were rulers and many places of religious importance. Thus a large number of visitors visit Mahabaleshwar on pilgrimages. Besides this being located in the cloud forest it receives the second heaviest rainfall in India. During the monsoon their is an acute shortage of tourist, which in turn causes heavy loses to the locals who's livelihood depends much on tourism. The remaining months due to the influx of tourist, traders and locals make-up for the losses.
