The place where I live
This year I live in A Coruña, but I'm from San Miguel de las Dueñas, a small village very near Ponferrada, about 8km; it's in the northwest of Spain. It has a population of 600 people, and most of them are old people.
It's a typical village of the north, because it's in a valley, surrounded by mountains with lots of trees and other kinds of vegetation.
There are two churches, one of them with a convent which has about 20 nuns. For young people, there are a sports center with tennis and basketball courts and two football pitches. There is a school for children from 3 to 12 years old, then they go to Ponferrada to a high school. There are also 4 cafes, a small hotel and a bus and a railway station.
The weather is hot in summer, about 30ºC, but in winter it's usually foggy and the temperature goes from 1 or 2ºC to -4ºC, it's really freezing!! The rest of the year the temperature is mild.
It isn't a famous village, but in August we have a Garlic Festival, and thousands of people come to buy it and eat some octopus. It's also famous for the church and the cookies which the nuns make.
But I think the best thing about it are the people, specially old people, they are so kind.
I love living there because it's a peaceful place and because all my family live there.
