Martinique. End of the 19th century. Hermansia and Tiquitaque, a couple who are also musicians, leave the plantation where they have been working to move to Saint Pierre. The city is then the capital of the island and a cultural place in the Caribbean. Our heroes think they will be able to earn their living with their music. But they soon realise that in Saint-Pierre people are more interested in Western music than in the quaint music of the plantation.

 En Martinica, a finales del siglo 19, Hermansia y Tiquitaque, una pareja de músicos, abandonan la plantación en la que trabajan y deciden instalarse en Saint-Pierre . La ciudad, que se sitúa al norte de Martinica, es, en aquel entonces, la capital de la isla,y el centro cultural del Caribe. Allí, nuestros héroes piensan vivir de su música.
Pero, pronto van a cambiar de opinión: En Saint-Pierre, la gente ya no se interesa en su “folclore” sino, en la música occidental...

In the French colony of Martinique, West Indies. In the 1930’s.
The film reconstructs a page of Martinique’s history. The filmmaker G.Deslauriers recounts the stormy and tragic life of a man, André Aliker, who denounced corruption and injustice on the one-page communist newspaper “Justice”. Only concerned with informing the people about the truth, he used very modern investigation methods.
This film is to be translated into Spanish, English and Portuguese to promote Martinican culture.
From a conversation with Mr. Pierre ALIKER, 102 years old and the film’s hero’s brother.

Un documental que reconstituye con una gran autenticidad una página de la historia de Martinica.
El director de cine Guy Deslauriers reconstituye el recorrido agitado y el final trágico de un periodista, André Aliker, militante de la revista comunista “Justice”.
Esta película será muy pronto traducida al español, inglés y portugués, para participar de la propagación a Europa de la cultura Martiniqueña.
Este resumen fue elaborado gracias a la amable colaboración del Señor Pierre Aliker, 102 años, hermano del héroe de aquella película, a quien fuimos a entrevistar.
