Joseph is seen with few orphans-10th April 2011 SHIG Foundation is taking care of 15 kids toward their educational materials, health and food. "There is nothing much to worry has these children future depends on education and Borni School will provide them quality education to help these children withstand the physical forces in society today and tomorrow.." SHIGF is supporting the child by providing education and health care through Care and Support project under Hope is Life Foundation. The programme 'Pig Farm' will insure that parents or guardians of every child under our care receives a gift of a piggery. Agriculture and Education development is the main objective in sustainable development. Therefore, a pig, chicken, and fish farming stands a best chance in this endeavor. As SHIGF, we don't believe in word Charity. Charity is a bad word.. it lowers the dignity of people. What we are doing is the right thing to empower the community and to take ownership. All belongs to the community and they must feel that they can take care of it. We do understands this fundamental concept of community sustainable development. We want the community or Borni school to know that the initial investment to purchase the pigs need to be returned back to the investor after selling the pigs. The community can sell the pig, make the profit but the initial investment to purchase the pig need to be returned. They can conduct this like any other business. The community knows, our Foundation will be the investor.

One of the Orphans under our care
In a small village, about 80 kms from the capital city (Imphal) of Manipur, a northeastern state in India, the villagers earn an average of less than one US dollar per day. Most in the village are illiterate and work the land to sustain a living. Their family income depends on the annual harvest. One of the schools located in this Pangantabi village is providing education for 250 students. Most teachers are volunteers from the village.

The farmers struggle to send their children to school as they need to pay for uniforms, food and school books. There are many children who are orphaned and some are infected with HIV/AIDS virus and generally rejected by society.

It is sad to see such beautiful children who have become orphans or infected with HIV virus face difficulty in attending schools and enjoying the rights bestowed upon every child. Education is not a privilege, but a right. Hope is Life Foundation is currently working with this school to make sure those rights are enjoyed by all.

The Foundation is currently raising funds to sponsor 15 children this year. This is our goal. The cost of putting one orphan child in school per year is a mere US$228.00.

Borni School Management has managed to grant partial scholarships to orphaned children. And engage their parents in agricultural projects for self sustainability. The pig project is one of the main agricultural components.  Families of children will be requested to contribute some of the harvest towards their children every annual agricultural gathering...' the harvest gifts' this grant children an opportunity to appreciate parents responsibilities and efforts towards education.

You can support a child by buying 1 pig or more as a contributions towards education of a child. Financial transactions will be deposited into School Account under the School Trust (SHIGF)

If you donate 4000 Euro's or $ USD for example, that will be used for 80 Pigs to support 10 children at Borni School per year. 4000 euro's you get 80 pigs approx. At the end of 8 months the pig will be sold for the child educational support and the family. 50% to the family and 50% to the School

Some families will be requested to use waste food from neighborhood. Install Eco-Friends dustbins, parents initiative. The big feeding will be covered mostly by the school to support agriculture in the community.

The Managing Committee voluntary took this opportunity. The chosen working members will coordinator, evaluate and monitor activities and funds.
