ROGASˇKA SLATINA
Rogasˇka is a small tourist town, which has about 10.000 inhabitants. It is only about 15 - 20 minutes away from the border with Croatia.
Rogasˇka is very famous for its natural mineral water, which was discovered in 17. century. Some scientists argue this fact because they belive the water had already excisted in the time of Romans.
The most famous legend of mineral water is connected with Croatian ban Peter Zrinjski, who came to Rogasˇka because his doctor ordered him to do so. He recommended him to drink mineral water so that his injury would heal. From this event on, the water in Rogasˇka Slatina has become very known. Lots of important people in european history came here to recover from different diseases. We could say Rogasˇka was becoming a meeting place for high society ( »La créme de la haute volée«).
Rogasˇka hasn´t changed a lot through all these centuies. There are a lot of buildings, which were built in 18. century, that remained the same.
The one I would like to point out is Zdravilisˇki dom. It is one of the greatest pieces of art and it is also the most famous building in Rogasˇka. It was built in record time from november 1910 till july 1911. The most beautiful room in it is solemn (festive) hall, which is known for its wealthy ornaments made of plaster and gold. The hall is also famous for the good acustics and for that reason musicians love it. In it is also held a traditional elite dance called Anin ples, which has been every year for the past one hundred years.
Today is Rogasˇka peaceful little tourist town. There are lots of sculptures, which reminds us of the vivid past.
