THE PRINCE OF ASTURIAS, THE SPANISH HEIR, HAS ANNOUNCED HIS ENGAGEMENT

The prince of Asturias, Don Felipe de Borbón, has announced hius engagememt. His fiancée is Miss Letizia Ortiz. She is a journalist. She is 31 years old. She comes from Asturias, a region in the North of Spain.
She is blonde, tall and thin. She is intelligent, hardworking ,out-going, funny.
The prince has given Miss Letizia Ortiz a ring and she has given the prince cufflinks.
The King and the Queen of Spain are very happy for the marriage as well as letizia’s parents.

The Goya Prizes

The Goya prizes are annual prizes that the Academy of Art and cinema Sciencies in Spain have been giving since 1987.
Although there were 15 categories at the beginning, at the present there are 24. Besides a Goya award is offered in recognition to the whole professional work in a life. They were held on 31st January in Spain. The Goya prizes are in honour of the Spanish painter:
The film Te doy mis ojos (I’ll give you my eyes), ahs got many Goyas in this year’s edition.
Another awarded films have been: Días de Football (football Days), El Cid, la Leyenda ( El Cid, the legend), Soldados de Salamina ( Salamina Soldiers), Sueños ( Dreams), Goodbye, Lenin, Mi Vidas sin mí (My life without me), Las Aventuras de Mortadelo y filemon ( Mortadelo and Filemon’s Adventrues).
The actor Hector Alterio has received the honour prize.

SPANISH ELECTIONS

2.004 has been election year. The main political parties have doing speeches for a long time, fist for the Spanish elections and now for the European elections.
The Spanish elections have been recently won by PSOE, the Socialist Party in Spain. So, eight years of PP (Popular Party) government have finished.
Some people think that PSOE have won because of the terrorist attack in Madrid. There has been a lot of debates about it and about one of the first measures from Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the socialist leader and head of the ogvernmetn now. He has ordered the Spanish soldiers to come back from Iraq.

FIGHTING CANCER

Scientists have improved some treatments for the prevention of cancer in order to fight it in Spain as well as in the rest of the world.
135,00new cases have been detected in Spain and 92,00 people have already died from cancer in Spain.
Cancer is the second death cause, according to data from the World Health Organization.
So far as now, millions of people have died and 10 million new cases have been diagnosed in the world.

MOON STONE

Investigators have found rests of a moon stone. The stone have fallen in Palencia.
An investigator from the Sciences Museum has said that anlysis have been carried out to check where the stone has come from.

THE PARADISE OF VULTURES

The refuge in Montejo de la Vera in Segovia, founded by Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente 30 years ago has become a paradise for vultures. The biggest vulture colony in Europe has settled there.
