Castles in Ávila have been protected for the last 50 years
Ávila, as any other province in our Autonomous Region, has a lot of castles. They are considered cultural heritage for everybody. Administrations have made a great effort to preserve them and now there is still a castle route to be created in order to join all the villages in the province. Walking in the countryside is finding fortresses in ruins that make you remember the medieval ages in the area.
Since the number of fortresses is quite big, restoration and preservation are very difficult. Seven castles or walls have been  restored with the help of state  initiative. There has been funding for local entities to pay for Plans and for factual restoration in Castilla and León.
During this year funding has been asked for the Walls in Arévalo and the Clock Tower in Pidrahita and in the next weeks an answer will be given to these petitions. With the economical help two actions will be carried out. First, a Plan will be written to orden the actions to be taken and the use of castles and militaary architecture in our region and then restoration works in themselves.
